My Child Doesn’t Want to Learn

Children need both school and home to gain the skills they need. You play an important role in helping your child love to learn.
- Read aloud as a family and take time to talk about the day’s events.
- Model reading and writing at home.
- Make sure your child has the tools to learn – paper, pencil, markers, and books.
- Visit the library (let your child select books he likes), museums, and other places of interest in your community.
- Visit your child’s school and attend school functions; get to know your child’s teachers.
- Display your child’s schoolwork with pride in your home.
- Kids with learning disabilities and behavior disorders get discouraged.
- Ask your child’s teacher if your child’s disinterest could stem from this.
